Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects people of all ages and is part of daily life for many children and families. While more common than many people realise, it’s often misunderstood — which is why awareness, open conversation and inclusive community spaces matter.
At The Tradies, supporting our community is at the heart of what we do, and we’re proud to stand alongside Epilepsy ACT through Make March Purple, wearing our purple shirts throughout March to help spark conversations, raise awareness and show our support for those living with epilepsy..

The Purple Muck Challenge:
Ready to get messy for a great cause? The Purple Muck Challenge is a fun way to raise funds and awareness — participants set a fundraising target, and once it’s reached… it’s time to get mucked!
How registration works (important):
Participants must register via the Make March Purple website (ACT registration).
Once registered, Epilepsy ACT will contact participants to confirm the details.
Safety & comfort:
Children will be supervised, and advised to keep a safe distance from participants during the mucking.
Participants will receive information about potential allergens/ingredients during planning.
We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting stained (food colouring may mark).
Community Walk
Epilepsy ACT is also planning a community walk (approx. 2.5km) with the route starting and finishing near the venue.
Fundraisers can register via the Make March Purple website, selecting the walk option.
If you’re not fundraising, you’re still welcome to join in on the day.
Register: Muck Challenge & Community Walk (ACT):
*Please note: Only those participants who are fundraising need to register.
Special Book Reading with Author Sarah Watts
A meaningful highlight of the day will be a children’s book reading with author Sarah Watts.
Sarah brings lived experience to her book Marvellous Miles, inspired by her son’s epilepsy diagnosis as a toddler. Through the story of Miles — a lively young boy learning to understand his body — Sarah gently helps normalise life with epilepsy, including seizures, daily medication routines, EEGs and doctor’s visits, while encouraging meaningful conversations between parents, carers, siblings and peers. (Sarah has confirmed she is happy to do the reading and has a WWVP card.)
Come Along and Be Part of It 💜
Whether you pop in for a short visit or stay for the afternoon, everyone is welcome. Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma and help families feel supported — because everyone deserves a place to belong.
